Make sure to use the correct charger for the correct battery.

If you battery is fully charged, it is better to use it a bit before storing.
If your battery is discharged to this type of level it is better to recharge it at least halfway if storing the battery for a while.
These connectors might need cleaning or some light electrical grease applied sometimes.

Our test bike battery from Shimano has been charged at least 200 times, we have noticed that it does not hold charge as before.
The circuit board at the end is for sensing the state of the battery. The white cables in the centre are for a temperature sensor, which constantly monitors the battery and cell temperature.
Inside a battery - The parts are not user serviceable.
